Sidney Lloyd Hoover|
Sidney Lloyd Hoover passed away January 19, 2013 after a mercifully brief struggle with lung cancer.
Sid was born September 4, 1921 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Arabelle Dutton and Sidney Edward Hoover. The family, including Sid's older sisters Kay and Wilma, moved to Seattle's Laurelhurst neighborhood when Sid was a young boy.
Sid graduated from Roosevelt High in 1940, and attended the U of Washington until he enlisted in the Army Air Force during WWII. He last served as a radio operator on a B-29 based on Tinian, and recalled flying over Tokyo Bay for the Japanese surrender ceremony.
While in the military Sid married Zoe Anne Steuding of Seattle, and after the war they raised three children while living on Queen Anne Hill, Magnolia, and Bainbridge Island.
Sid worked in the air freight industry, and accepted a transfer to Dallas, TX in 1970. Not long after he changed careers, moving to commercial real estate, and eventually operated his own firm that served the Dallas area for over 25 years.
Sid and Zoe Anne moved back Seattle several years ago to be closer to their family. Zoe passed away in 2010. Sid is survived by his children: Sidney (Laura Sue), Jeffrey (Rosie), Joy (Dave), and their extended families.
No service is planned, however, a small memorial may be held at a later date.
