Stewart James Briggs passed away January 25, 2014 at Virginia Mason Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 87 years old.
Born February 6, 1926 in Chicago to Stewart John and Margaret Reilly Briggs, the family moved in 1930 to the Ravenna area of Seattle.
Jim was graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1944. After earning a degree at the University of Washington in Business with a minor in Psychology, Jim met all the requirements for a PhD Purdue University in Indiana. The Army called up Jim after WWII was over to serve 6 months plus at Fort Lewis, WA.
Drucilla Allen of Okanogan, WA, married Jim on August 1, 1953. The couple moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where Jim taught at Omaha University and was a consultant to local businesses. Two years later, Drucilla and Jim it son Allen, moved to California, where Jim worked on several military applications at Nortronics, a branch of Northrup Co. A son Vaughan joined the family in 1960. From late `1964 to July 1995, Jim worked for Boeing in Seattle.
After a short time, Boeing contracted Jim to several Federal Security Agencies to work on Imagery Interpretation Projects. The family lived on Woodridge Hill in Bellevue, Washington for 30 years.
Jim and Drucilla retired to Anacortes, Washington for 15 years prior to moving to Horizon House in Seattle. An avid scuba diver, hunter, fisherman, boater and gardener; Jim loved the outdoors. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Drucilla Allen Briggs, son, Vaughan Reilly Briggs, Cynthia Macrum Briggs; grandchildren, Stewart Bryan and Kelsey Jean Briggs. Bryan married Casey King of Provo, Utah, in 2012. Jim is also survived by brothers Richard Briggs and Jack Briggs, of Seattle and Bellevue. Son, Stewart Allen Briggs deceased in 1984.
