Takashi Hori

Takashi Hori born January 21, 1918, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2013. At the time of his death, he was residing with his daughter in Newport Beach, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife Lily (Morinaga), and his three sisters (Florence Morimoto, Toyome Hirae and Aiko Shoji). Takashi Hori was born in Littell, Washington, a small sawmill town near Chehalis to Sanjiro and Toyo Hori. He graduated from Broadway High School and the University of Washington with a degree in business in 1940. He was interned at the Minidoka Relocation Center in Idaho. Before WW II, his family bought the Panama Hotel in the International District where many families stored their possessions when they were forced to leave Seattle during the War. Takashi Hori owned and operated the hotel until he retired in 1985. He was active in many organizations in Seattle's Japanese American community. He is survived by his two children, Susan of Newport Beach, CA and Robert of Los Angeles, CA, his brother, Fukashi Hori of Chicago, IL, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Seattle Buddhist Church, 1427 S Main Street, Seattle WA, 98144. After the service, an informal gathering will be held at the Panama Hotel Tea and Coffee House at 607 South Main Street.
