Thomas Larry Ladum Obituary
Thomas Larry Ladum

Larry was born Dec. 19, 1927, in Tacoma, Washington to Thelma Ninnis and Albert Ladum; his older brother Edwin Ladum predeceased him in 1987. The Ladum family relocated to Seattle where Larry skipped a grade at the elementary level and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1945 and immediately went into the Army serving in Korea. Upon his return from the service Larry attended the University of Washington on the G.I. Bill, majoring in business and graduating in 1951. Larry's college years were one of the highlights of his life; he was active in Phi Kappa Psi acting as their president during his senior year. Larry met the love of his life, Jacqueline Johnson while at the "U" and went on to enjoy over sixty years of marriage and five children.

As a couple, Larry and Jackie enjoyed dancing, dining, and socializing with their many friends from their college years and beyond. Larry's professional career was meaningful, as he started his own construction company, Cascade Northern Co., and worked on many projects from Hawaii to Alaska while employing many over the years. Larry was a true entrepreneur and got more than one of his children started in business, as well as a son-in-law.

The Ladum children would like to thank their mother for all the loving care and devotion that she showered on Larry after two strokes and many surgeries, including brain surgery in 2008.

Dad will be remembered for his love of baseball, his mathematical mind (his kids called him the "human calculator") his affection for chocolate and his love of family. He is survived by his wife Jackie, his five children and ten grandchildren.

Please join the family in celebration of Larry Ladum's life at Candace and John Severson's home, off of Beach Drive - Sunday, August 4, at 2p.m. Please direct questions to: mclfri@comcast.net.
