Willard Roe, age 88, died Feb. 17, 2014 at his home at Rockwood
Retirement Community surrounded
by his devoted wife, Nancy of 46 years and children, Robert of Sammamish and Patricia of Seattle. He was born to Bert and Elizabeth Roe and grew up in Eureka, Montana on his family's cattle ranch. After 3 years in the Navy Air Corp right out of high school, he graduated from the University of Idaho and later got a Masters in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington. In his 38 years of working for the Boeing Co. he helped design the 707, 727, 737, and 747 as well as the B-29 Bomarc and Sram missiles. He was very patriotic and had a strong interest in politics, working at the local level. After his retirement from Boeing in 1989, he and his wife moved to Spokane where he continued to manage the ranch in Montana. They belonged to St. Peter Catholic Church and lived at Rockwood Retirement Community for the last ten and a half years. Willard is preceded in death by his father, Bert C. Roe and mother, Elizabeth Roe and three sisters: Frances, Corinne and Virginia.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Rockwood Retirement Community (South Hill), 2903 E. 25th Ave. Spokane, WA 99223.
