Edmund H. Luther Obituary
Luther, Edmund H.

Edmund H. Luther, age 91, a resident of Plymouth Care Center, died there Thursday, June 19, 2014.

He was born March 22, 1923 in Sheboygan, youngest of four children, to Richard and Anna (Pallaske) Luther. He was a graduate of Central High School. Edmund grew up with lifelong friend, Donald Grapentine, who preceded him in death. After high school Edmund proudly served his country in the US Army from January, 1943 to December, 1945. He was attached to Gen. Patton's 3rd Army in the European Campaign and was later transferred to the Pacific Theatre on Okinawa.

On July 2, 1949 Edmund was united in marriage to Virginia Nocita Adelich. They were married 31 years and had 2 children, Steve and Shari. Virginia preceded him in death on March 12, 1981.

Edmund learned mechanical skills while in the Army, after which he became a skilled mechanic in civilian life. For twenty five years he was employed as a mechanic at Clicquennoi Auto Body. At the recommendation of his good friend, Clyde Fredericks, he then joined the custodial staff at Sheboygan Area School District for 15 years, retiring in 1986.

During his life and retirement years, Edmund enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, and taking walks in the woods to observe wildlife. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They all gathered this last Father's Day for a wonderful celebration.

Edmund is survived by his daughter, Shari Luther and his son, Steven (Beth) Luther all of Sheboygan; three grandchildren, Mark (Renee) Luther of Oshkosh, Mitchell Luther of Sheboygan, and Serenity (Adam) Minear of Glenview, IL; great-grandchildren, Katherine, Steven, and Jacob all of Sheboygan; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Edmund was preceded in death by his three sisters and brothers-in-law, Hildagarde (Jacob) Wagner, Anita (Clarence) Damrow, and Louise (Andrew) Clicquennoi.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the Chapel of Eternal Light at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6706 Superior Avenue, Kohler, WI. Rev. Alan Kretschmar will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held from 12:30 until the time of service. Full military honors will be accorded Edmund following the service by the VFW Post 9156.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.

Edmund's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Plymouth Care Center for the wonderful care they gave him these past six years. A thank you also to Dr. Scott Stillwell for his dedication and care of Ed for the past twenty years.
