Jerome F. Strysick, 76, of Sheboygan passed away on Tuesday evening, July 23, 2013 at St. Nicholas Hospital.
Jerome was born on June 4, 1937 in Sheboygan a son to the late Edwin and Margeta (Urbancic) Strysick. He attended Sheboygan Central High School. Jerry served in the Marine Corps, serving in Okinawa, Hawaii and the Mideast. He was discharged from Camp Lejune with the rank of sergeant. On September 17, 1960 he was united in marriage to Patricia Nigbur. Jerry had been employed in the warehouse at Fresh Brands Food for 30 years, retiring in 2001. Activities enjoyed by Jerry included fishing, hunting, bowling and softball. He especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren and attending their various activities.
Jerry was a member at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church where he was an usher and a member of the Catholic Knights.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia; his children, Roxanne Johansen of Sheboygan, Cheryl (John) Braeger of Wrightstown and David (Jan) Strysick of Cleveland; his grandchildren, Richard, Nicole, Jonathan, Trisha, Bethany, William, Logan, Marlee and Dawson and his great grandchildren, Honor, Rylan and Landyn. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and other family. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Benjamin Braeger, his parents and a brother Otis.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 29, 11 a.m. at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Holy Cross Mausoleum with military rites accorded by VFW Post 9156. Family and friends may gather at the church, 1444 S. 11th St. on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m.
A memorial fund has been established in Jerry's name.
