Russell was born September 10, 1915 in Crivitz, WI, the youngest son of Fred and Julia (Nee Parent) Bennett. He joins brothers Duane and Kenneth with our heavenly Father.

Russell graduated from Crivitz High School in 1933. He served our country in the United States Army in World War II from 1941 - 1948 as a Corporal, spending time in France and Germany. After returning from the war he worked as a telegrapher for Milwaukee Railroad from 1948-1968.

During these years he fell in love with Deloris Lauer and they married in 1954. They raised their children, bought a home, ran a family business and were happy with life's pleasures. He worked as the store manager of Lauer's Food Market until he retired in 1977. Deloris passed away in 1975. Not many people experience two great loves, but Russell met Marilyn Konz over a Leinenkugel in 1979. They were married on February 18, 1983.

They enjoyed many happy years together working at Road America, vacationing in Arizona, watching the Brewers and having a cocktail. Russell loved the Bible and fictional novels, cribbage, and a good debate. He also organized the first annual Bennett Open (golf), now in its 30th year.

Russell was a member of the VFW World Cheese Center Post # 5612, Ladewig-Zinkgraf American Legion Post # 243 and Knights of Columbus Council #1789 in Plymouth (4th Degree).
