Arthur Eugene Bagley, 86, departed this life for his eternal home January 31, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Arthur was born in Elysian Fields, Texas, son of William Elbert and Maude Adelle Oden Bagley. Upon graduation from Elysian Fields High School, he enlisted in the US Navy during WWII and served 15 months in Pearl Harbor. After the war, he met the love of his life, Mary Helen England, and they married in 1950. He worked for United Gas Pipe Line and retired in 1986 as Area Superintendent. He then worked as an inspector for Quality Control Specialists until 1998.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, William Elbert Bagley, Jr. and one sister, Minnie Kate Bagley Sandlin. He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons Terry E. Bagley and wife, Diana, William (Bill) Bagley and wife, Becky, and daughter, Brenda Bagley Parker, and husband, Perry. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Bagley will be held on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Coburn and Rev. Brian Bagley officiating. Interment will follow in Panola Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Downs Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, February 2nd.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and honorary pallbearers are James Tiller, Billy Davis, Jack Bowman, his North Carolina buddies, his camping buddies, his coffee buddies, and his Masonic brothers of Waskom Lodge.
The Bagley Family would like to thank family and friends for the many expressions of love and support along with the prayers during this difficult time.
The family would also like to thank Dr. James Jackson and Dr. Tommy Brown for their many years of dedicated care of their Dad along with all involved at Willis Knighton North for their care and concern for Dad during his recent hospital stay.
