A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Basil Guice Trunzler IV, M.D. will be held at St. Gerard's Catholic Church on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Dr. Trunzler passed away in Alexandria, LA on Thursday, November 8, 2012.
Dr. Trunzler was born in Harrisonburg, LA on March 12,1936 to Mary Etta Bethard Trunzler and Basil Guice Trunzler III, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Joy Owens Trunzler; by children, Laura Trunzler Batson and husband John Andrew Batson, Basil Guice Trunzler V, Paul Arenz Lemke III, and Anne Lemke Diamond; four grandchildren; one sister and two brothers.
Dr. Trunzler graduated from Harrisonburg High School. He received a B.S. degree from Louisiana State University and from there LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed his residency in urology at Confederate Memorial and then became a board certified urologist. He then went on to fulfill his military duty with the U.S. Navy on the Valley Forge and served in the Vietnam War. He then began his career of fifty-two years as a physician. He has been past Chief of Staff at Natchez Regional Hospital and Medical Director of Sicily Island Medical Center.
