Benny "Papa" Beckham left this earth to eternally be alongside our Lord and Savior on the 22nd day of June 2014 at 5:20am. Funeral services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Walnut Hill Baptist Church in Vivian, LA, Rev. Barry Carter and Rev. Mark Bevill officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation from 10-11am before the service.

He is survived by his faithfully dedicated wife of 27 glorious years, Mauriece Hicks Beckham, 2 step-sons, Byron C. McDonald and Tony Whitt both of Vivian. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren Katie and Emily McDonald of Vivian, and Shawn Whitt of Boston, MA. Benny was not an only child, he and his twin sister Betty Swarers were among the eldest of seven total children; Martha Ann Cook, Barbara Sue Stanley, Patsy Williams, James Allen Beckham and Larry Beckham all of Vivian. Benny was preceded in death by his parents Rufus and Lola Beckham, also his in-laws Clarence and Della Mae Simms.

Benny loyally served his country as a young man by serving in both the United States Army and United States Navy. He was a Past Worshipful Master of the Vivian Masonic Lodge, and also served as an alderman to the town of Vivian for two terms. Finally Benny retired as store manager at Bumper to Bumper in Vivian, store No. 42. Benny was a very active member of his church, Walnut Hill Baptist Church. On earth Benny was an amazingly magnificent husband, step-father, brother, grand-father and friend. He will be tremendously, always loved and most certainly never ever forgotten.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Hook, James Williamson, Cliff Holt Sr., Jake Woods, Mark Tyson, Cliff Holt Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Sunday School class at Walnut Hill Baptist Church.
