Charles W. Moore

SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for Charles W. Moore will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February, 24, 2014 at Rose-Neath Marshall St. Chapel. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Officiating will be John Long of the General Richard Taylor Camp, SCV. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery on Stoner Ave., Shreveport, La.

Charles was born on November 4, 1926 to Waldo W. Moore, Lt. Col. US Army, Pentagon and Beatrice Hawthorne Moore, first female legislator elected to the La. House of Representatives. Charles passed away on February 19, 2014 after a lengthy illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Waldo H. Moore. He is survived by cousins Ronald R. Alford, Donna Alford Jones, Ronda Alford Tillstrom and Marla Alford Schober.

Mr. Moore was first and foremost a historian. His passion was the War Between the States and his hero was Stonewall Jackson. He was in the Army during WWII and he earned a master's degree in Business Administration from Southeastern University in Washington, D.C. He was a dedicated member of the following organizations: Oddfellows, Sons of Confederate Veterans and Civil War Round Table.

Honoring the family as pallbearers will be members from the General Richard Taylor Camp, SCV and Col. Leon D. Marks Camp, SCV.

The family wishes to express special thanks to John and Linda Preston, Bobby and Kim Preston, and Leona Connell for all the care given to Mr. Moore.
