Christopher "Kit" Hooks

Arcadia-A good man is gone. Maybe not by the world's standards, but to his loved ones he was such a man. Christopher "Kit" Hooks passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Monday, August 4, 2014 at First Baptist Gibsland, LA. Services will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at First Baptist Church Gibsland, LA at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Dr. Richard May and Reverend Orville Bryant. A private family graveside service will follow at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.

Kit was born November 17, 1917 to the late J.D. & Lila M. Hooks in Magnolia, AR. Kit served in the Air Force during World War II stationed in England. In July of 1945, Kit & Dottie moved to Gibsland and he started Gibsland's first taxi service. Kit had a servant's heart and a positive outlook on life. He served his community with many a thoughtful gesture and an encouraging word to friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, ten siblings and his son-in-law, R.L. "Lynn" May.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dottie, of Arcadia; one daughter, Alyce Jane May of Ruston; three grandchildren, Robert May and wife, Becky, of Simsboro; David May and wife, Lindsay, of Simsboro; Holly May and husband, Joey Johnson, of Simsboro; eight great-grandchildren, Austin, Michaela, Christopher, Cole, and Gracie May; Katlynn and Breana Henley and Caleb Johnson; sister-in-laws, Louise Hooks of Magnolia, AR; Dot Hooks of Conover, NC; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Kit does not want us to grieve long, instead during your silent hours of grief we pray you hear the voice of Jesus as He speaks, "Let not your hearts be troubled for in my Father's house are many mansions." John 14:1.
