SHREVEPORT, LA- A funeral Mass for Clarence Paul Rachal, 89, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church. Officiating will be Monsignor Carson Lacaze, Father Peter Mangum, and Father Francis Kamau. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel.
C.P. was born to Mitchel and Marie Rachal on July 2, 1923 in Campti, LA. He graduated at Campti High School. He went to school at Natchitoches where he met the love of his life, Pearl Lovelle Addison. He asked her to marry him. They were together for 68 years until her death in 2010. He is also preceded in death by a brother and sister, Ellen Dodd and James Mitchel Rachal.
He is survived by son, James Richard and wife, Jane; daughters, Wanda Gaile Sandel and husband, Kenneth, and Rebecca Delane Evans and husband, Paul; sister, Anna Bond; grandchildren, Kenny Sandel and wife, Sandy, Pam Ohlrich and husband, Dave, Rusty Sandel and wife, Bonnie, Soni Mangum, Lesli Rachal, and James Evans and wife, Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Heather, Amanda, Brent, and Brittany Sandel, Krysten Ohlrich, Josh and Rachal Mangum, and Dylan and Lance Evans; great-great-grandchildren; Arissa, Ashlyn, and Allexxya; Lesli's shadow, Emily who calls him Grandpaw; and other friends and relatives.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Sandel, Brent Sandel, James Evans, Dylan Evans, Josh Mangum, and Donald Hayward. Honorary pallbearers will be Lance Evans and Rusty Sandel.
C.P. served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was retired from Emerson Electric Co. and from Beaird Poulan Division as supervisor of Tool and Die Department after 31 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Men's Club, The American Legion, past member of Caddo Reserve Deputy Sheriff Association, LA Peace Officers Association, and the Association of Integrated Manufacturing Technology.
