L. Don Parkerson

Cullen, LA - Funeral services for Mr. L. Don Parkerson, age 84, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the First Baptist Church, Springhill, LA with Rev. Ronald Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in the Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Parkerson was born on February 22, 1930 in Springhill, LA to Louis David and Minnie Lee Orr Parkerson and died Sunday, August 31, 2014 at his home in Sarepta. He was a lifelong resident of this area, was a member of the First Baptist Church, Springhill and was a former employee of International Paper Company, a pipe fitter and construction worker. He has held numerous other construction management jobs all over the world. He was a member of the Springhill Masonic Lodge #348 F&AM, Scottish Rites and Shriners. He also was a member of the Wagner Chapter 111 of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Eddy Waldrop Parkerson; three sons, Eddie Parkerson of Dallas, TX; Robert Parkerson and wife, Janet of Springhill, LA; Sherrill Parkerson and wife, Donna of Cotton Valley, LA; daughter, Michelle Parkerson of Sarepta, LA; step-son, Richard Waldrop and wife, Cynthia of Benton, LA; step-daughters, Lanita Jones and husband, Robert, Nancy Petty and husband, Tommy, all of Fayette, AL; eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren; sister, Videa Huber, brother, Gary Parkerson, both of Cullen, LA and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Parkerson was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Bernice Windsor Parkerson on December 22, 2005; his parents and sister, Valaurie Parkerson.

Pallbearers will be members of the Springhill Masonic Lodge #348 F&AM.
