Donald Maurice Arnold

Surrounded by his loving family, Donald died at home after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held, Monday, November 5, 2012, 10 AM at Rose-Neath Southside with visitation on November 4th from 3-5 PM, officiated by Tom Howe of Christ United Methodist Church.

Don was born on May 1, 1927 to John Elba and Carrie Arnold and was a lifelong resident of Shreveport. After serving his Country as an officer in the Merchant Marine during WWII, he was a fireman for the Shreveport Fire Dept. He then went on to form several businesses, Arnold Lumber, Arnold Construction and Arnold Forest, 7A Ranch to name a few. He was a charter member of Christ United Methodist, helped form the Brookwood Athletic Assoc. memberships also include the Grotto and Free Masons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, his wife of 62 years, Mary Lou and son Mike. He is survived by his sister Emma Lou Summerlin, Jerry Ann Bruce and husband RW, his children Diane Moore and husband Ray, son Donnie and fiancée Vicki, son Doug and wife Jimmie Kay, Jan Lilley and husband Wayde: 13 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends. All of whom he referred to as "My Group".

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Ray Moore, Jr, Trey Moore, Chad Arnold, Wesley Arnold, Reese Arnold and JW Lilley. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Tew, Tookie Tew and Cody Brooks.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Agape Hospice, and the prayers of everyone and request memorials be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 1204 Crabapple Dr, Shreveport, LA 71118
