Ernest E. Adams
Shreveport, LA - Ernest E. Adams went home to his Lord and Savior on December 30, 2013 following complications from a 30 year battle with Asbestosis. He passed away peacefully at home with his family together after spending the past few days celebrating Christmas with extended family and dear friends. In so doing, a wish he shared in recent weeks to have his family together for the Holidays was fulfilled.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest E. Adams, Sr. and Loree Daily Adams; his father and mother-in-law, Ray and Mary Middlebrooks.
He is survived by his wife of almost 54 years, Sylvia Middlebrooks Adams, their three children and their spouses and children: Monique Michelle Huston, husband Dr. Kevin Huston and son Cameron Christopher Snyder, all of Shreveport; Russell Ernest Adams, wife Suzy Getsinger Adams, and their children William Ernest, Ansley Grace, and Benjamin Brooks, all of Des Moines, Iowa; Gerald Ray Adams, wife Debbie Fletcher Adams and their daughter Cathryn Georgeanna, all of Shreveport.
He was born on August 31st, 1934 in Shreveport. He graduated from St. Johns High School (Loyola) in 1952. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp, where he traveled the world before becoming an Insulator and meeting the love of his life, Sylvia, in 1956 and marrying her in 1960. He was a co-owner of College Cleaners with his mother prior to founding AAA Insulators, Inc. in 1972 and was later a proud recipient of the Small Business of the Year award presented by the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce.
He was a past distinguished president of the Broadmoor Kiwanis Club. He served on the Board of Directors of the Independence Bowl Sports Foundation for several years. He was a past board member of the Southwest Insulation Contractors Association (SWICA). He was a long-time member and former board member of the Associated General Contractors Association. He was a member of the Shreveport Bossier Executives Association (SBEA) and proudly received the Ronny Joe Hampton award for outstanding service to the SBEA membership. He also served on the YMCA Board of Directors and Athletic Committee of the former Agnew Town and Country Day School. He was a lifetime friend of the Louisiana Tech Alumni Association. He was an active member of Broadmoor Baptist Church and the Tatum/Lindanger class. He was also a long-time member of the East Ridge Country Club and former University Club.
Ernie loved to read books, often a novel a day in recent years. He took great pride in his yard. He enjoyed traveling the globe with Sylvia and their friends. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren. In past years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with friends and cherished time he spent early in the morning at RJ's having coffee with his buddies. You knew he liked you when he teased you. Once teased with his dry wit, you were his friend for life. His word meant everything; there was no need for contracts and written agreements with him. If he said he would do it, it was done.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, January 3rd, 2014 at Osborn Funeral Home in Shreveport. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 4th 2014 in the main sanctuary at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport. Officiating the service will be Dr. Tom Harrison. Interment will be held at Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Broadmoor Baptist Church "To All Generations" Fund, Volunteers of America, or charities of the donor's choice. The family would like to thank Ernie's doctors for their compassion and care, particularly Dr. Richard Haynie and Dr. Paul Schuler.
