Winnfield, LA - Mrs. Ernestine McKinney Peterson, age 93 of Winnfield, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria.
Mrs. Peterson was a native of Hosston, Louisiana and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winnfield. She attended Louisiana Tech and graduated from Northwestern Louisiana State University with a B.A. in Elementary Education and a Masters Degree in Counseling. She was retired from the Winn Parish School Board.
Mrs. Peterson was the daughter of the late Ernest Woodburn McKinney Sr. and the late Tubith Gorben McKinney. She was also preceded in death by her husband Kelly Leon Peterson Sr., her son Kerry McKinney Peterson, two brothers Ernest McKinney, Gorben McKinney, and two sisters Zenobia McKinney Mcdonald, and Mary Alice McKinney Snelling.
Survivors include one son Kelly L. Peterson Jr. and his wife Judy of Houston, Tx., one daughter Pamela Peterson Baldwin and her husband Tommy of St. Joseph, La., daughter-in-law Carol C. Peterson of Shreveport, eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Survivors also include numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2014 in the First United Methodist Church of Winnfield with Reverend Bill Willis officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield.
Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Winnfield, The Winn Parish Library, and or the
Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home on Tuesday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until time of services.
Pallbearers will be Brian Baldwin, Greg Peterson, Ben Baldwin, Keith Peterson, Taylor Cathey, and Kyle Peterson. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Keith White, Tommy Harrell, Wayne Sandifer, Dicky Heard, and Jerry Martin.
