Evelyn B. Martin Obituary
Evelyn B. Martin

Bossier City, LA - Evelyn B. Martin, 95, entered into eternal peace on Friday March 15, 2013 following a lengthy illness. Officiating at her service is Reverend Michael Miller, pastor of Fellowship Methodist Church where she was a member.

Evelyn was born April 3, 1917 in Monroe, La, the second daughter of William Bailey and Mary Johnston Bailey. After graduating from Bolton High School in Alexandria, La she began her hospital career at the old Charity hospital in Shreveport. In 1938, she married Carl C. Martin and had three children. His career in the Air Force allowed the family to accompany him to many states and travel extensively. Returning to Barksdale AFB Evelyn resumed her career as a Medical Lab Technician at Confederate Memorial Hospital (LSUHSC) retiring after 30 years of dedicated work. She then worked another 10 years part-time for Willis Knighton Hospital.

She was an active Lifetime Member Of the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post 4588, serving as treasurer for a number of years and giving unselfishly of her time.

Her husband of 35 years preceded her in death, as did her mother, two loving sisters and a very close cousin.

She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her son Lt Col Roddy Martin, USAF (Ret), daughters Mary Helen Cline and husband Col Vinton Cline, USAF (Ret), Evelyn Gunderson and husband Robert, four grandchildren, Scott Gunderson (Charla), Drs. Kevin J. Cline (Debra), Jill Gunderson Small (Rob) and Cheryl Cline Stough (Kelly), six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Evelyn was a very kind and gentle soul with a loving and generous heart. Her positive outlook on life was passed to all of her family who loved and respected her dearly. How we will miss her! Honoring her as pallbearers will be her grandsons.

The family would like to express tremendous thanks and gratitude to Dr Fleniken and staff at the NWLW Veterans Home and the nurses and staff at Colonial Oaks Guest Care for their loving care and compassion.

Arrangements are being handled by Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr, Bossier City, La., where the family will receive friends from 2-4 PM Sunday, March 17th. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 Monday March 18th at the Rose-Neath Chapel. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Cemetery, Hwy 80 East, Haughton, La.

Memorials may be made to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 4588 of Bossier City or the Alzheimer's Foundation.

I go to prepare a place for you, that where I am you may also be.
