GLOSTER, LA- Funeral services for Floyd Burton Prudhome, 80, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 23, 2013 at Graceway Fellowship Church, 6901 Buncombe Rd. Officiating will be Rev. Rick McDonald. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel.
Floyd was born August 3, 1933 in Frierson, LA to Floyd W. and Minnie Prudhome. He passed away on September 20, 2013 in Gloster, LA after an extended illness. Floyd proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and also served 20 years as an Auxiliary Police Officer for the City of Shreveport. He was a loving husband and father who dearly loved his family and God. His favorite pastimes included raising vegetable gardens and listening to gospel music, especially bluegrass gospel. Floyd was a master handyman and mechanic who was always willing to help others. He enjoyed and was content with living the simple country life on his beloved farm. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, hard work, and love of family, God, and country.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Harold Prudhome. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Joann Qualls Prudhome; son, Scott Prudhome and wife, Annette; daughters, Vicki Davis and husband, Clayton, Jerri Barnes and husband, Joe, and Robbie Valentine and husband, Lindell; grandchildren, Matthew Rambin, Roxanne Parker, Nathan Davis, Meliss Soldner, and Katelyn Valentine; great-grandchild, Chance Soldner; siblings, Doretta Mills, L.S. Prudhome, and Joyce Clark; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Rambin, Nathan Davis, Richard Parker, Khris Soldner, Carl Qualls, II, and David Bryant.
The family extends special thanks and gratitude to Dr. Jimmy Smith, Dr. Richard Haynie, and St Joseph Hospice for their compassionate and loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Graceway Fellowship Church Building Fund.
