R. Gene Hicks, Sr.

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Services for R. Gene Hicks, Sr., 85, will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Rose-Neath's Bossier Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Billy Pierce, assisted by Rev. Tommy Patton. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA.

Gene was born December 13, 1927 in Creighton, LA to William Joshua and Snow Virginia Hicks and passed away July 21, 2013 in Bossier City, LA. He was a retired electrical inspector for the City of Bossier and had proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Gene was a member of Cypress Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Shriners and Bossier Sheriff's Posse.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Nina Jean Sutton Hicks and brothers, William Lamar Hicks and Hollan Howell Hicks.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Zachary Hicks; sons, Roy Gene Hicks, Jr. and wife Teresa of Benton, LA, Jack Steven Hicks and wife Angela of Cary, IL; daughters, Debbie Chandler and husband Burt and Tammy Sutherland and husband Mitchell all of Arlington, TX; sister, Fern McBee of Mineola, TX; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honoring Gene as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Trey Hicks, Russell Hicks, Chad Copeland, Chris Copeland, Davidson Sutherland and William Sutherland.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Cypress Baptist Church Building Fund.
