Funeral services for Retired LTC Helen Ventura Ellis, who passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014, will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at First United Methodist Church, Hornbeck, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Rus Black and assisted by Rev. Alan Brown and Rev. Jack Bell pastor of First Baptist Church, Hornbeck, LA. Interment will follow at Beckom Cemetery, Hornbeck, LA. Visitation will be held from 5-9pm Tuesday, Januarty 28, 2014 at First United Methodist Church, Hornbeck,

LA.

Helen was born on October 28, 1929 in Hornbeck,LA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lucille Ellis; along with her sister, Ruth Ellis Allen.

She is survived by one sister, Clara Ellis Alford of Hornbeck, LA; brother-in-law Dale Allen of Hornbeck, LA; nieces Alisa Carter and husband Glen, T.Jae Tarpley and husband Darrell; Juanita Mitchell, Karen Fluitt and husband Tim; nephews John Alford and wife Angie, Tim Allen and wife Megan; a host of nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

Helen lived a wonderful life that was full of blessings. She graduated from Old Charity Hospital in Shreveport with a degree in Nursing. She spent more than 20 years in the United States Air Force. During these years, she was stationed in Turkey, Germany, and numerous other places within the United States serving her country and enjoying her career.

Honoring her as pallbearers will be Tim Allen, Wesley Mitchell, Trey Mitchell, Shane Mitchell, Dylan Rogers, Patrick Fluitt, Justin Alford, Matthew Alford. Honorary pallbearers will be Garrett Rogers and Tyler Mitchell.

The family would like to say a special thank you to her many sweet neighbors that took special care of her. They would also like to thank the doctors and staff of the Veteran's Administration Hospital for their professional and extended care of Helen. They would also like to thank her special caregiver, Cheryl Dixon and the staff of Vernon Home Health.

"Aunt Helen" will be greatly missed by family and friends.
