Hubert E. Storer
Shreveport, LA - Mr. Hubert E. "Bud" Storer passed away on Monday, July 8, 2013. Memorial services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2013, at First United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Dr. Pat Day of First United Methodist Church. Visitation will follow in Bain Hall. A private family graveside service will be held.
Bud was a native of Malvern, Iowa born on May 7, 1931, and a resident of Shreveport since 1962. He was a 1950 graduate of Creston High School, in Creston, Iowa and received his BS in Engineering from the University of Iowa, in 1959. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1951until 1955 and obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Bud was an active member of First United Methodist Church, having served as Chairman of the Facilities Improvement Team; a member of the Building Committee; Executive Director of Capital Campaign; Chairman of the Church Council and Finance Committee; and a past Administrative Board Member and Trustee. He also served as a Board member of the Methodist Children's Home. Bud was a co-founding member of the Shreveport Bossier Executive Association. He was a life member of the ASHRE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers), Shreveport Chapter and was a member of the National Association of Trane Franchise Holders. He held memberships and served in many capacities over the years in the Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, Shreveport Rescue Mission, LSU Shreveport Foundation, Shreveport Junior Achievement, Community Renewal, University of Iowa Alumni Association, Committee of 100 and Caddo Career & Technology Center. He received numerous awards including, "2005 Samaritan of the Year", "2008 Torch Award for Ethics in Business", "2009 Outstanding Philanthropist" and elected a Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame Laureate 2011. Bud also enjoyed sports, travel, business, Church and his family.
Bud was the Chairman and CEO of Storer Equipment Co., Ltd. representing The Trane Company for over 50 years.
Mr. Storer was preceded in death by his first wife, Jacqueline R. Hooke Storer of London England; his parents, Laura and Hubert Storer and infant brother, Gerald D. Storer. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Martha Denmon Storer; two sons, Craig Howard Storer and wife, Judy and their children, Aaron, Andrew and James Storer, all of Shreveport and Mark Alan Storer, of Dallas, TX; two daughters, Laurie Marie Storer, of Dallas, TX and Sheryl Elaine Storer, of Austin, TX; two stepdaughters, Linda Hughes and husband, Kevin and their children, Anna McArthur and husband, Calum and Kyle Hughes and his wife, Molly, all of Dallas, TX and Amy Wilson and husband, Dr. Paul Wilson and their children, Amanda, Stewart and Olivia, all of Shreveport, LA; and one stepson, O. C. Allbritton, Jr. and wife, Cylette and their children, Margaret, Charles, Grace and Jack, all of Houston, TX; five great grandchildren, Maxwell, Oliver, Eliza, Asher and Foster; brother, Larry and wife, Carol; sisters, Patti Larson and Janice Miller; sister-in-law, Dee Wyly; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Aaron Storer, Andrew Storer, James Storer, Kyle Hughes, Stuart Wilson, Charlie Allbritton and Calum McArthur.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Cochran, Charles Salley, Bill Wilder, Bill Buckabay, Grady Golden, Niven Morgan, Sr., Fred Plitt, Jim Burt, John Tudor, Colin Godfrey, Ray Butts, Bill Harrison and Dick Shields.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to benefit First United Methodist Church of Shreveport and/or The Methodist Children's Home of Ruston, LA.
The family expresses deep appreciation to Dr. Paul Wilson; Dr. Pat Day and the Co-Wed class of First United Methodist Church; the hospice attendants; and the associates at Storer Equipment.
