Mooringsport, LA ~ Funeral services celebrating the life of James Vernon "Frog" Carlisle, age 86 will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Mooringsport Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie DeHondt officiating. Interment to follow at the Mooringsport Memorial Gardens. The family will have a time of visitation on Wednesday, August 21st from 4-7 PM at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 705 S. Spruce Street, Vivian, LA.

Vernon, as known by his family and friends was born in Hall Summit, LA on February 1, 1927 to Jack and Sybil Carlisle and passed away on August 19, 2013 at LSU Medical Center after a brief illness. He worked for Halliburton for 33 years. Vernon was a lifelong hunter and fisherman. He fished all of the area lakes and hunted wherever a deer, turkey or squirrel could be found. Vernon was a member of the AAA Hunting Club, N.R.A., Over The Hill Hunting Club, Wild Turkey Association and loved to tell stories of his adventures. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Nora Ann Carlisle and brother, Charles Ray Carlisle. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Betty Selman Carlisle, son, Jerry Carlisle and wife, Charlotte of Bossier City, LA; daughters, Wanda Hendricks and husband, Billy of Greenwood, LA and Cathy Palmer and husband, Victor of Lafayette, LA. Vernon is also survived by his sister, Valerie Crowley of Vivian, LA; grandchildren, Stephanie, Todd, Emily, C.J.; great grandchildren, Autumn, Hannah, Keith and extended family, Lesa Miller and Meredith and David Fields.

Honoring Vernon as pallbearers will be Todd Carlisle, Carlisle (C.J.) Palmer, Garrett Guidry, Leroy Norris, David Fields and Keith Hendricks. Honorary pallbearers will be Leo Dillahunty, James Jordan, Russell Shelton and members of the AAA Hunting Club.
