Marcus C. "Mark" Williams, Jr.

SHREVEPORT, LA- On Friday afternoon, January 11, 2013, God in His infinite wisdom saw fit to remove from our midst our beloved Husband, Daddy, Paw-paw, Brother and Christian Friend, Marcus Clyde Williams, Jr. The end came peacefully after a long courageous battle with heart and lung disease, and medical skill could go no further. Our Lord took His ANGEL home.

Visitation will be held at Rose Neath Funeral Home Southside on Monday, January 14, 2013 from 5 pm to 7 pm. Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Keithville on Williams Road in Keithville, La at 11 am on Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Officiating will be Reverend Randy Riley and Reverend Steve Gilley. Burial will follow at First Baptist Keithville Cemetery.

Mark was born in Shreveport, La on October 14, 1945 and was 5th generation of the Williams family to reside in Caddo Parish. He was a member of the Pastor's Class Sunday School at Calvary Baptist Church. Mark graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1964 going on to attend Louisiana Tech University and receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Baptist Christian College, a Master's Degree in Sociology from National Christian University of Dallas, a Ph.D. in Psychology and Counseling from Baptist Christian University, a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Louisiana Baptist University and Post Doctorate Study from Yale School of Management, Yale University. Mark was also a graduate of the LSU Law Enforcement Institute and of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Mark began his career with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office at the age of 21 years in 1967 and retired on his 55th birthday as Assistant Chief after 33 1/3 years of service. He retired from his 2nd career as Assistant Manager of Detention from the Caddo Parish Juvenile Services after 10 years 8 months of service. In November, 2011 he began his 3rd career with "CAPOLA", Capital Assistance Project of Louisiana as a Mitigator. Mark's heart has always been in public service and with helping others. He was a member of the SAR, Sons of the American Revolution, Fraternal Order of Police and Masonic Order.

Mark is predeceased by his parents Clyde and Norma Williams of Keithville, LA, and brother, Howard Aubrey "Louie" Williams. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marilyn Bush Williams; daughter, who was born on his 32nd birthday, Michelle Williams Holcomb and son-in-law, Jason Holcomb of Florien, LA; grand-daughters, Caroline Grace Loar, Lynlee Faith Williams Holcomb, and Landry Love MaCoy Holcomb; sister, Jeanette Williams Barkley of Shreveport, LA; mother-in-law, Evelyn Bush of Shreveport, LA; and best friend of 45 years, Bennett Kitchings of Keithville, LA.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Williams, Dale Walton, Jerry Webb, Mike Cox, Cullen McVay, Kevin Sentell, Odie Litton, and Earnie Fegley.

Honorary Pallbearer is Bennett Kitchings.

A very special THANKS to the Nurse's and staff of Willis Knighton North MICU, 5th Floor, for their continued professionalism and compassion throughout his illness.

Mark's caring personality was endearing to all who met him. He was someone that will never be forgotten.

The family suggests memorials be made to the , , First Baptist Church Keithville Cemetery Fund or the Gideons.
