Ottis G. Byrd, 82, a native of Mt. Carmel, LA and resident of Many, LA passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Sabine Medical Center.He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He graduated from Louisiana State University in 1953 where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering. He retired after a 42 year career in the oil and gas industry. He was a Baptist by denomination. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maxine Spears Byrd, his daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Cliff Winburn of Saucier, MS, his grandchildren, April and Kristina, his two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Brenda Byrd of Weatherford, TX, his grandchildren, Justin and Tyler, and Gary and Rena' Byrd of Walker, LA, his step-grandchildren, April, Lisa, and Jarrett. He is also survived by his brother and sisters-in-law, Larry and Fern Byrd of Houston, TX and Joye Byrd of Shreveport, LA, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, A.J. and Miami Spears of Shreveport, LA, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Byrd and Christene Thaxton Byrd of Mt. Carmel, LA and his brother Floyd E. Byrd of Shreveport, LA. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 14, 2013 beginning at 1:00 PM at the Mt. Carmel Church in Florien, LA. Funeral Services will also be on Thursday, November 14, 2013 beginning at 2:00 PM at the Mt. Carmel Church in Florien, LA with Rev. Joey Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Florien, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to: The Louisiana Baptist Children's Home and Family Ministries, P.O.
