Raymon L. Owens
Memorial services celebrating the life of Raymon L Owens, 89, of Shreveport, LA will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Shreveport, LA with the Rev. Ken Irby officiating.
Mr. Owens died March 31, 2013 at home after attending Easter Worship Services.
Mr. Owens was a charter member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Shreveport Rotary Club, the Shreveport Orchid Society, and the Shreveport Genealogy Society. He was an AARP Driver Safety Program instructor and served as State Coordinator for several years. Ray was the Scout Executive for the Norwela Council, Boy Scouts of America before retiring and opening Petland Pet Shop.
Mr. Owens received a Bachelor of Science degree from Centenary College. He served in World War II in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Peggy Wilkes Owens.
Blick Blaque is survived by his sister, Shirley James and her husband Curtis James of Phoenix, AZ, two sons and their wives, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will immediately follow the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Broadmoor United Methodist Church of Shreveport or Norwela Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
