The Woodlands, TX - Robert (Bob) Blake Tabor, Sr., 83, of The Woodlands, TX passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving and devoted family on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 in The Woodlands, TX. Bob was born on October 16, 1929 in Shreveport, LA to Thomas Blake Tabor and Bernice Keoun Tabor. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Victor Allen Tabor. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mattie Louise Simmons Tabor; daughter Ruthellen Tabor Hinton of The Woodlands, TX; sons Robert Blake Tabor Jr. and wife Camille of Dallas, TX and Markel Simmons Tabor of Bossier City, LA; grandchildren Heather Renea Tabor, Alyssa Nicole Tabor, Reginald Blake Hinton, wife Marlee and daughter Baylie and Matthew Tabor Hinton as well as sister-in-law Rosalie Simmons Allbritton; nieces Denise Allbritton Wilkes and Kim Renae Allbritton; nephew Kenneth Ray Allbritton, Jr. and special loved one Kim Foulk. He will be missed by a host of other loving family members and friends.
Bob was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Springhill High School in Springhill, LA in 1947, married his high school sweetheart Mattie Simmons in 1950 and graduated from Louisiana Tech University in petroleum engineering in 1951. He served in the Coast Guard after graduation. He started his engineering career with United in Tyler, Texas and transferred to Shreveport, LA in 1967 and moved back to his hometown of Springhill. United merged into Pennzoil and Bob retired from Pennzoil in 1982 after 30 years of service. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved being with his family. Bob enjoyed telling jokes and sharing stories about history. He also loved watching old western movies and was a huge Dallas Cowboy fan which he passed along to his children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Springhill Cemetery in Springhill, LA on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the
