Thomas James Powell

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Graveside services for Thomas James Powell, 71, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave., Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Clarence Chism.

Tommy was born March 25, 1943 in Shreveport to William and Mary Powell and passed away on May 31, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory is his memory are his brother Stephen Powell and his wife, Penny; sister, Cheryl Faye Powell; nieces and nephews; Marian Pardue, Martha Boykin, Britney Rust and her husband, Jason; David McVay and his wife, Lisa; Miranda McVay Choat and her husband, Wesley; Kimberly McVay and Kirk Powell; 4 great-nieces, nephews and cousins.

Tommy was a US Navy veteran and served during the Vietnam War. After returning home he worked as an Insurance salesman. Tommy loved to read, which is what he spent most of his time doing in his later years. He will be truly missed.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made in Tommy's honor to Wounded Warriors Project at
