Walter C. Oathout

Shreveport, LA - Mr. Walter Clyde Oathout, 73, passed away in Shreveport, LA on Sunday, August 18, 2013. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 23 in the chapel of Osborn Funeral Home with funeral services following at 12:00. Officiating will be Rev. Tony Nations of Central Christian Church. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park.

Mr. Oathout was a native of Sullivan, IL and had resided in the Shreveport, LA area for 29 years. He was retired from a long career in the hospital financial management field after thirty-five years of service and was a lifetime member of HFMA. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather who never knew a stranger. Mr. Oathout was a member of the Central Christian Church where he was a member of the choir. Besides loving music, Clyde was an avid sports fan. His one regret in life was that he was never able to witness a Chicago Cubs championship.

Mr. Oathout was preceded in death by his mother, Leota Oathout, his father Walter Oathout, brothers Marion and William, and his wife, Judy Winings Oathout.

He is survived by his sister Doris Elzy and husband Everett of Alton, MO, children, two daughters, Angela Keneda and husband, Scott, of Chickasha, OK and Mary Montgomery and husband, Barry, of Fallbrook, CA; two sons, Jeff Oathout and wife, Margaret, of St. Louis, MO, and Patrick Oathout and wife, Karin, of Shreveport, LA; nine grandchildren, Sarah Oathout, St. Louis, MO, Anna and Thomas Keneda, Chickasha, OK, Harrison, Nathan and Zoë Montgomery, Fallbrook, CA, Haley, Sutton, and Addison Oathout, Shreveport, LA.

Pallbearers will be Scott Keneda, Barry Montgomery, Thomas Keneda, Harrison Montgomery, Nathan Montgomery and Sutton Oathout.

Honorary pallbearers will be, Sarah, Anna, Haley, Addison and Zoë.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Lillie Harris for her extra special care to the entire family.
