William Marzell Hayes
SHREVEPORT, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of William "Marzell" Hayes, 84, will be held at 10:00 Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Shreveport Community Church. Officiating will be Pastor Denny Duron and Pastor Brian Opbroek. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. with military honors in Hurricane Cemetery, in Athens, LA. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel.
Marzell was born on October 16, 1929 in Marthaville, LA and passed away on January 5, 2014. He was a resident of Shreveport and served as a deacon at First Assembly of God in Shreveport (now Shreveport Community Church) for over 40 years. He was a man of strong faith and leaves an amazing legacy for his family. He enjoyed his church activities, hunting, fishing and dominoes. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Oneita Cox Hayes, parents, Ovid and Laura Hayes; infant son, Anthony Edward Hayes. He is survived by son, Gilbert Hayes and wife, Trish; daughter, Nelda Garza and husband, Frank; grandchildren, Nathan and Samuel Hayes, Jeremy and Jerod McKeehan; great-grandson, Aiden McKeehan; sisters, LaNita Davis and Cleo Lewis.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy McKeehan, Jerod McKeehan, Nathan Hayes, Samuel Hayes, Ryan Wells, Raymond Oakes.
