Willie R. Jones

Willie R. Jones, 78, of Shreveport, LA went to be with the Lord May, 14 2014 with his family by his side. Willie was born in Shreveport May 22, 1935 to William J. Jones and Alma Barnes Jones.

Willie served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 until 1974. He married his late wife, Ruth Breedlove Jones in 1957.They raised two children together while moving around the U.S. during his Navy Career. After his retirement from the Navy, he worked for many years with his brother, Tommy building homes in the Shreveport-Bossier area.

He was fortunate enough to marry again to Rosa Maria Robledo and they shared 26 years together. Willie loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Rooting for the Dallas Cowboys and cooking were his two favorite pastimes. Willie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a generous and caring person to those in need.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth, his parents, sister, Doris Stanbaugh and brother, Buddy Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa and his brother, Tommy Jones. Also surviving Willie are his children and step-children and their spouses, Steve Jones (Ellen), Suzy Jones Watson (Bill), Charlotte Huber (Ron), Patrick Rice (Tonya), Tina Rodsuwan (Tom) and Jan Rice. He is also survived by grandson, Jordan Nicholas Brock, 17 other grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday, May 16 2014 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City. A graveside service will be held at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mooringsport, LA Saturday May 17, 2014 at 11am. Officiating will be Pastor Richard Wise.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to a Veterans organization of your choice.
