Achille "Chick" Maggioli

MISHAWAKA - Achille "Chick" Maggioli, 90, passed away on Thursday, December 20, in Mishawaka. Chick was born on May 17, 1922, in Mishawaka, to Ferdinand and Teresa (Carabini) Maggioli. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helen Maggioli Baldini; a sister, Catherine Maggioli Gorman; and a brother, Victor Maggioli. Surviving are a sister, Annette Maggioli Linson of Mishawaka, IN, and a nephew, Doug Baldini of Mishawaka, who was Chick's caregiver the past several years. He was a graduate of Mishawaka High School, attended University of Indiana and University of Notre Dame in the Marine Corps Program; he was a member of the National Football Champions at the University of Illinois, Big Ten Football Champions and Rose Bowl Champions. His pro football career included National Football League, Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions and Baltimore Colts. Chick was inducted into the Mishawaka High School Football Hall of Fame and Indiana Football Hall of Fame in 1988. Chick was a veteran of the United States Marines, serving his country during WW II where he received a Purple Heart at Okinawa. He owned a Trucking Business in Detroit, MI. He then moved back to Mishawaka and owned and operated Baldoni's Restaurant along with Ziebart rust proofing. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, DeAmici's, Beiger Heritage, VFW, American Legion, National Football League Association, St. Patrick Nocturnal Adoration Society, the Marine Corps League and the Notre Dame Monogram Club. Visitation will be today, December 23, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka, IN, where a Rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, December 24, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Mishawaka.
