Oct. 12, 1928 - Nov. 20, 2013 EDWARDSBURG - Mrs. Betty Lee (Beamer) Flesh, 85, recently of the Sanctuary at St. Paul's, passed away with loved ones near on Wednesday at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Born in Dallas, TX, on October 12, 1928, to the late Lawrence LeRoy and Emma Barr (Miller) Beamer, she married Henry Dewey Flesh Jr. on August 30, 1952; he survives of South Bend. Having graduated from high school in St. Louis in 1947, Betty was a loving wife for over 61 years and a dedicated mother and homemaker for over 50 years. Betty gave much of her time to volunteering for various local organizations including the Special Olympics. Betty enjoyed many outdoor activities including fishing and gardening. She especially loved caring for the many birds and small animals that visited her backyard feeders. An avid reader, she loved a good mystery or Western and in her later years she could be found watching a classic movie from days gone by. Left to cherish her memory along with Dewey are her daughter, Renee L. Hensley, and son-in-law, Brian Hensley of Edwardsburg, MI; her son, Bill Flesh, and daughter-in-law, Betsy Flesh of South Bend; and her three loving grandchildren: Emma, Samantha and Nathan Flesh, all of South Bend. A brother predeceased her, Jack (Dottie) Beamer of St. Louis, MO. Funeral services will be held at McGann Hay Funerals | Cremations | Gatherings, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Rd., on Tuesday at 2 p.m., with visitation from 1-2 p.m. prior, with Rev. Terry Coonan, Associate Pastor at St. Pius X Catholic Church, officiating. Cremation will follow with burial later at Edwardsburg Cemetery.
