Beverly J. Taber Jan. 21, 1923 - Mar. 18, 2014 ELKHART - Beverly J. Taber, 91, of Elkhart, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at East Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Beverly was born on January 21, 1923, to Francis and Elsie (Fedell) King in Elkhart. She was raised by her aunt, uncle and her five cousins. She is survived by a daughter, Melodie Cataldo (Joseph), Elkhart; son, Gregory King; grandchildren, Angela Strycker (Jesse), Carmela Cowdrey (Eric), Jason and Monica King; great-grandchild, Dylan Cowdrey; and a sister, Catherine Kirkdorfer, New Paris. She was preceded in death by a brother, Francis "Bud" King. Beverly graduated from Elkhart High School in 1941. Following her high school career, she joined the U.S. Coast Guard (SPARS) and served during World War II. Beverly later worked as a Distribution Clerk for the U.S. Post Office. She retired in 1985 after 20 years of service. She was a member of NARFE (USPO) and the DAV. A private family service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank East Lake Nursing Center and Harbor Light Hospice for their compassionate care of Beverly during her time with them.
