Clyde "Fred" Frederick Robinson Dec. 18, 1929 - April 5, 2014 NEW CARLISLE - Clyde "Fred" Frederick Robinson, 84, of New Carlisle, Indiana, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014. Fred was born on December 18, 1929, in Bloomington, Indiana, to Leland Clyde and Dolly (Weddle) Robinson. Clyde was a 1948 graduate of Bloomington High School, Bloomington, Indiana. He was a 1959 graduate of Purdue University majoring in Agriculture. Fred was a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Olive Chapel Church and the American Legion Post 297. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Upon graduation from Purdue University, he and his family moved to New Carlisle, where he has resided for the last 54 years. Fred was employed as a High School Agriculture Teacher, later substitute teaching, at New Prairie High School for a combined total of 18 years. He also was employed as a MetLife Insurance Agent, retiring in 1989. In addition to his teaching and life insurance careers, Fred enjoyed spending his summers gardening. From his garden he sold and often shared fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers to friends and neighbors from his produce stand. On June 6, 1952, in the former Mount Gilead Church in Bloomington, Indiana, he married Betty M. McCoy, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Debra Jo Jones of Elkhart, IN, Beth Ann Warren of Glenn, MI, Robin Rae (Jim) Garoutte of LaPorte, IN and Kimberly Sue Burnette of New Carlisle, IN; one son, Frank (Jennifer) Robinson of New Carlisle, IN; eight grandchildren, Jesse (Lisa) Jones, Lesley (Tim) Seitz, Corey (Peter) Sherman, Mitchell Robinson, Wyatt Warren, Kelsey Burnette, Katie and Kyle Garoutte; six great-grandchildren, Madison, McKenzie, and Myles Jones, Lilah Seitz, Paige and Logan Sherman; five sisters, Mildred Young of Crawfordsville, Indiana, Vera (Tom) Baker of Indianapolis, Indiana, Judy (Randy) Anderson of Bloomington, Indiana, Susie (Mike) Martin of Unionville, Indiana and Eva Ragan of North Carolina; two brothers, Kenny (Elyse) Robinson of Bloomington, Indiana and Ernie (Retha) Robinson of Unionville, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Robinson, who died as an infant, and Margie Freeman; one son-in-law, Guy Jones, and two brothers-in-law, Leroy Young and Jack Ragan. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 19, 2014 in the New Carlisle Wesleyan Church. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday in the church. Services will follow.
