David J. Honold July 2, 1948 - Aug. 18, 2014 MISHAWAKA - David J. Honold, 66, of Mishawaka, passed away during the early morning hours of Monday, August 18th, in his residence surrounded by his loving family. He fought like a champion during his 5-month battle with pancreatic cancer. David was born in Mishawaka on July 2, 1948, to the late Martin and Ruth (Raymond) Honold. He graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1966 and received a Bachelor's Degree in Business from Indiana University and a 6 Sigma Degree from Villanova University. On August 10, 1968, in Mishawaka, he married Laura Iden, his high school sweet heart. They just celebrated their 46th year anniversary. David attended the Grace Chapel Church in Crumstown. David is survived by his wife, Laura Honold, and their four children: Melissa Honold of Mishawaka, Jennifer (John) Burgh of Mishawaka, Sean (Tina) Honold of Mishawaka and Erin (James) Lacey of South Carolina. He was the grandfather of eight: Jacob Daniels, Zachary Carroll, Brook Higley, Ayden, Noah, Brianna and Abrahm Honold, and Dagan Lacey; his father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Lois Iden of Mishawaka; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Vicky and Kirby Dipert of Mishawaka; brother-in-law, Jerry Iden of Florida; and sister- in-law, Debbie Peddycord of Mishawaka. David was preceded in death by a son, Ryan David Honold. David worked at Dodges as a scheduler, at Uniroyal where he served as union president, Deck Manufacturing as a scheduler, System Components as a plant manager and as semi-retired worked for School City of Mishawaka until his illness. David enjoyed being a father and a grandfather. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved dogs, Bailey and Gruff. He always looked forward to Notre Dame football. He loved going to games with his son. He was always a fun-loving person; he liked to play jokes on his family. David played drums in his band, The Countdowns, later known as The Big Spenders in the early 60s through 70s. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, August 22nd, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, from 4 until 8:00 pm. A service celebrating David's life will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, August 23rd, in the funeral chapel with Rev. Mark (Poncho) Rydzinski officiating. Cremation is to take place with burial to be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in David's name to Grace Chapel Church, 59825 Crumstown Highway, North Liberty, IN 46554; or to Pet Refuge, Inc., 4626 S. Burnett Drive, South Bend, IN 46634.
