David Martin Witt Oct. 12, 1946 - July 27, 2014 GRANGER - David M. Witt, 67, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014, after his short struggle with liver cancer. David was born in La Porte, IN, October 12, 1946, and grew up in South Bend, IN. He graduated from Riley High School in 1964 and Indiana University Bloomington in 1970 with a BS in Business. After high school, he joined the Army Reserves where he worked with artillery. Dave was set up on a blind date with Mona Boatman in 1968 at IU. Later that year he sold his hard-earned BMW motorcycle in order to purchase her an engagement ring, having proposed to his beloved wife, Mona Witt. After college graduation, he earned his Real Estate license and worked in that field as a respected broker and residential appraiser until he learned of his illness. Dave's hobbies included fishing, creative cooking, sailing and scramble golf. He loved traveling and exploring new cultures, blues and jazz music, was a dedicated Chicago Cubs and Indiana Hoosier fan, and drove a Nissan for almost 30 years. He was spiritual through meditation practice as a Christian. He cherished his family and friends very closely, and was involved with the community, serving on the MLS Board of Directors, among others. He was a humble and giving man, loved by many. David is survived by his mother of 91 years; and siblings: Lynne (Witt) Barnaby and family, John Witt and family, Kathleen Witt, Becky (Witt) Martindale and family, Barbara (Witt) Levan and family, and Drew Kovach - son of Nancy (Witt) Kovach; wife, Mona; sons, Reginald and Michael and daughters-in-law, Mary and Kelsey; and grandson, Robert ("Bobby"; of Reg and Mary.) Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm, Friday, Aug. 1st, with the service at 4:00 pm, at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 State Road 23, Granger, IN (enter off Cherry Rd.)
