BUCHANAN - Doris A. Lamb, longtime resident of Buchanan, died at her home on Friday, 11 January 2013. Doris was one of four daughters of Walter and Edith Lamb; she was born in Buchanan and graduated from Buchanan High School. After high school, Doris earned a Bachelor's Degree from Kalamazoo College and later completed her Master's Degree at University of Michigan. A professionally trained social worker, Doris devoted her life to improving the lives of children, providing care that ranged from managing adoption services to counseling troubled youth. Ms Lamb was preceded in death by her parents and all three of her sisters. She is survived by six nephews and nieces. She will be remembered for being a supportive friend and a good neighbor to all those in the Theoda and Charles Court neighborhood. Her focused dedication to her parents and extended family was well-known. Despite problems with her vision, Doris was an enthusiastic reader and was always well-informed on world events. The services will be private. Throughout her life, Doris supported the Buchanan Public Library, Salvation Army and Hospice at Home. The family encourages her friends to do the same in lieu of flowers. Arrangements have been entrusted to Swem Chapel in Buchanan. To sign her guestbook or leave a condolence message, please visit our website, www.swemchapel.com.
