SOUTH BEND - We celebrate the life of Emma Klingel 87 years young of South Bend, Indiana. She was born on December 5, 1926 the daughter of Carl and Mildred Edith (Gorsline) Coffman of Lucerne, Indiana. Having been raised on the farm, Emma had a passion for planting, gardening, and especially many joyous years mowing the grass on her large lawnmower. After receiving her bachelor and master's degrees from Indiana University, She chose a rewarding career of teaching with the Mishawaka School System, of students aged Pre-K to fourth grade in the Michiana area. Emma settled in South Bend with her former husband of 36 years, Dr. L.F. Klingel, Jr. After retirement, she was an active volunteer at Battell Center, Mishawaka, Indiana, quilting, sewing, crafts, and serving lunch. Through the years Emma received two separate awards for the most hours of community service from two separate Mishawaka Mayors. Her dream of traveling to every state in the United States was accomplished except for Alaska. She also frequented Denmark, Europe and Samoa. Emma is surrounded in love by her sister, Dorothy Cox, Logansport, Indiana, her son, Kevin Klingel and wife Annette, South Bend, Indiana, daughter, Karen Klingel, South Bend, Indiana, grandsons, Aaron Catanzarite and Ryan Catanzarite, both of Sount Bend, Indiana, granddaughter, Gina Klingel, South Bend, Indiana, great grandchildren, Ross Paul, Keira, Alyssa and Sklyer Catanzarite, all of South Bend, Indiana, and sister-in-law, Carolyn Coffman, Macy, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Coffman. Her wisdom and positive attitude and influence to love one another, will forever be in our thoughts and in our hearts.
