Frank T. Skubis Sr. March 23, 1919 - April 30, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Frank T. Skubis Sr., 95, was called home by his heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Frank was born March 23, 1919, in Heilwood, PA, to the late Stanley and Kunegunda (Klimowski) Skubisz. Frank was married to his beloved wife, Stella T. (Jemiolo) Skubis, for 67 years. She preceded him in death on July 25, 2011. Frank was also preceded in death by his sisters, Katherine Skubis, Rose Rozmarynowski and Mary Gruda; and a brother, John Skubis. Survivors include his five children, Victoria (Robert) Hadrick of Crown Point, Mary Ann Chamberlain of Mishawaka, Frank (Lenna) Skubis Jr. of Tucson, AZ, Stanley (Jean) Skubis of St. Charles, IL, and Richard Skubis of Ft. Myers Beach, FL; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sophie Rhodes of South Bend. Frank honorably served his country in the United States Army during WW II and received a Purple Heart for his meritorious service. Upon his return from World War II, he worked for Ball Band, Studebaker, and retired in 1984 after 36 years with the U.S. Postal Service. Frank was a member of American Postal Workers Union AFL-CIO, American Legion Post 357 and VFW Post 9820 for over 50 years. He has been a life-long parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. Frank was a Cubs and Yankees fan, spent many hours cheering on his teams, most notably the University of Notre Dame, although his family was his greatest joy. He was a loving "Grampie" to his grandchildren and "Great Grampie" to his great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Monday, May 5, 2014, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. The Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, May 6, 2014, in Holy Family Catholic Church.
