June 12, 1921 - Jan. 18, 2013 LAPORTE - Genevieve "T.T." June Simcox, 91, of LaPorte, passed away peacefully at 12:34 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2013, at Indiana University Health - Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. She was born on June 12, 1921, in Fish Lake, IN, to Lloyd and Rachel (Schmidt) Barthel. She attended 2nd and 3rd grade at Rolling Prairie School where she first met Willard Simcox on the school bus. She was a proud member of 4-H for 10 years and graduated from Mill Creek High School. She then attended LaPorte Business School. Genevieve worked at the Kingsbury Ordnance Plant from 1941-1946, issuing War Bonds. She retired from Allis Chalmers Manufacturing Company after twenty-seven years of service as a payroll accounting clerk. After retiring, she was employed by Key Cleaners, Low's Clothing Store, and many local families as a seamstress making alterations and repairs. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and crocheting. During the past two years, she crocheted more than 200 Christmas placemats and many scarves for Colts fans. She attended the Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Best Years. Her family was her pride and joy. On February 9, 1991, in the Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church, she married J. Willard Simcox, who survives. Also surviving are her daughter, Margo (Joe) Wildey Brown of LaPorte; two grandchildren, Mandy (Allen) Mitterling of Avon, IN, and Angie (Steve) Starkey of Rolling Prairie; and one great-grandchild, Jacob Tyler Mc Calment of Avon, IN; two sisters, Margaret (Kenneth) Van Dine of LaPorte and Beverly (Charles) Noel of Fish Lake; nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two stepchildren, Sheila (Bernard) Jastrzemski of Granger, IN, and Ed (Sandra) Simcox of Fishers, IN; five step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Donald Kimmel; and grandson-in-law, Kevin Mc Calment. A funeral celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., LaPorte, (219) 362-3100, with Pastors Dorothy Jones and Joellyn Chadwick officiating. Visitation and viewing will be from 4 - 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2013, and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Patton Cemetery.
