Jack Johnson Oct. 8, 1946 - June 27, 2014 PLYMOUTH - Jack L. Johnson, 67, 506 Randolph Street, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014, at 12:15 p.m. at his home. Jack was born on October 8, 1946, in Plymouth, to Walter and Cecile (Long) Johnson. He graduated from Plymouth High School in the "Class of 1964". Jack proudly served in the United States Navy, as a Hospital Corpsman with the Marines, in Vietnam. He was awarded the Purple Heart and various other medals while he was there. Jack married the former, Helen Dickson, on August 17, 1969, in Plymouth. They were the proud parents of two daughters. Their family loved to travel and had many wonderful vacations. He traveled the United States extensively, especially Arizona, Hawaii, Florida, and the western half of the U.S.; visiting 49 of the 50 states. Instead of seeing Alaska, Jack chose to take his family on a dream trip to Rome. He always carried an atlas. Jack was an avid reader, enjoyed history, the Old West, and classic movies. Jack worked for the Sheet Metal Union Local #20. He was a member of Saint Michael Catholic Church and the (DAV) Disabled American Veterans. Jack is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Helen Johnson; their daughters, Heather Johnson (Steve Mueller) of Palm Harbor, Florida and Angela (Jeffrey) Birchmeier of Plymouth; his grandchild, Gage Birchmeier; his step-grandsons, Brandon, Derek (Veronica), and Evan Birchmeier; two step-great-grandchildren; his brothers, Charles (Marilee) Johnson, James (Babs) Johnson, and Ronald Johnson all of Plymouth; his sister, Beverly Anderson of Bremen, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews (some of whom are not technically related, and they know who they are!) who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sandra (Edward, survives) Woodard of Jonesville, Virginia.
