James Satterfield Nov. 24, 1946 - Aug. 1, 2014 ELKHART - James Bradley "Jim" Satterfield, 67, of Elkhart, passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born November 24, 1946 in Atlanta, GA to James B. Satterfield I and Jeanette I. (Morton) Satterfield. On December 10, 1988 he married Doris A. (Zeilinger) Satterfield in Elkhart. She survives at home. Other survivors include 4 sons, James B. (Sally) Satterfield III of Walhalla, SC, Shawn M. (Lori) Beltz of St. Johns, FL, Blake A. (Lisa) Beltz of St. Augustine, FL and Derek J. Beltz of Elkhart; 3 sisters, Dianne Osborne, Kathy J. Dardis and Jeanene C. (Bud) Konanz, all of Elkhart; former spouse, Marsha K. Vetter of Burlington, VT; 1 aunt, Marilynn Hoffman of Elkhart; 5 grandchildren, Darwin, Haze and Oliver Beltz, Anna and James Bradley Satterfield IV; 1 stepsister and 4 stepbrothers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, James L. Colman. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1964 until 1968. He was employed at Miles Laboratories for 34 years prior to his retirement. Jim was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. He served as a Junior Achievement Advisor for approximately 5 years. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the 7:00 PM Celebration of Life service on Monday, August 4th at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin Street, Elkhart. Sister Nora Frost will officiate. Inurnment of his cremated remains will take place at a later date at Prairie Street Cemetery Veteran Towers. Memorial contributions may be made to the in memory of Jim.
