SOUTH BEND - Mr. Joe Womack, age 62, and a resident of Prairie Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, passed away at 4:40 a.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at his residence. Joe was born to the union of James and JoAnna (Hogsett) Womack in Jackson, Tennessee, on June 15, 1950. Coming from Jackson, the family relocated to South Bend in 1952 where Joe was raised and attended public school. He was employed as a truck driver for Goodwill Industries for 5 years and also worked in Maintenance for 15 years at the University of Notre Dame. Joe especially loved music, board games, barbecues and traveling. He was a former member of Jesus Unlimited in Niles, MI. Joe and Anita Montgomery were united in marriage on July 3, 1987. She preceded him in death on February 3, 1993. Survivors of Joe Womack include his father, James Womack of Los Angeles, CA; six sisters, Dianna Merriweather, Linda Harrison, Maxine Plump, Vanessa Womack and Tina (Brian) Williams, all of South Bend, IN, and Carolyn (Michael) Barnes of Oklahoma City, OK; six brothers, Charles Womack, Jimmie Womack and Ronald Womack, all of South Bend, IN, Darnell (Stacey) Evans of Indianapolis, IN, James Womack and Raymond Brian Womack, both of Los Angeles, CA; special friends, Martin Baker and Paul Gholer; along with other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death along with his mother, JoAnna Womack and wife, Anita, was a sister, Angelique Womack. The funeral service for Mr. Womack will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, March 4th, at Alford's Mortuary, where arrangements have been entrusted.
