John B. Roberts July 15, 1933 - Aug. 16, 2014 MISHAWAKA - John B. Roberts Sr., 81, residing in Mishawaka, passed away at 2:50 am Saturday, August 16, 2014, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. He was born July 15, 1933, in South Bend, to the late Marian G. and Gertrude (Dillon) Roberts, and remained a lifelong area resident. John graduated from Marmion Academy in Aurora, IL. He earned a Bachelor's Degree at Indiana University, Bloomington, and was a member of Delta Epsilon. He served his country honorably in the United States Army as an officer during the Korean War. John loved cars. He co-owned Roberts Motor Company in South Bend with his wife, Loretta, where he worked until retirement in 2011. John and Loretta, who survives in Mishawaka, celebrated 40 years of marriage. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by daughters, Ann (Gary) Vanderlon of Indianapolis, Josephine Fields of Monterey, IN, and Doretta (Kevin) Sigg of Granger; son, Donald P. (Kelly) Fields; and grandchildren, Mari Courtney (Travis L. Roberts, fianc‚) Voiles, Sakari K. Norris and Rhegan A. Roberts, Sabrina and Leon Fajawa, Peter Helmschrott, Paul and Kristin Fields, and Abbey and Don Michael Fields. He was preceded in death by a son, John B. Roberts Jr.; a granddaughter, Ashley Fields; and siblings, Jean and George Roberts. John was a wonderful husband and father, who was very loving and helpful. He dearly loved his family and grandchildren, and will be greatly missed by all. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am Friday, August 22, 2014, in St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Road, Granger, where friends may visit for one hour prior. Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Niles, MI. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of John may be donated to St. Pius X Catholic Church. Online condolences may be left for the Roberts family at
