SOUTH BEND - Joseph A. Digirolamo, 87, passed away on, Friday, September 13, 2013, in his home with family by his side. Joseph was born August 4, 1926, in Mishawaka, to the late Pasquale and Anna Genna Digirolamo. On April 26, 1958, Joseph married Alice (Sikorski) Digirolamo, who preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 2006. Joseph was also preceded in death by three sisters, Vita Vaszari, Angelina Trittipo and Josephine Sands. Survivors include his children, Carmen S. (Leslie) DiGirolamo and Lisa A. (David) Stopczynski, all of South Bend; grandchildren, Rachel DiGirolamo, Kayla DiGirolamo, Shane (Jessica) Stopczynski, Abigail (Kyle) Murphy and Alexander Stopczynski; and by his two sisters, Lucy Kaplachinski of Mishawaka and Anna Dedio of Berwyn, IL. He is also survived by Sue Witz, who is a special part of our family. They shared many happy times together. He was also looking forward to the birth of his first great-grandson, baby boy Murphy. He is survived by many special nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Joe honorably served his country in the United State Army. He retired in 1986 from the Bendix Corporation after 38 years of service. He was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church, member of the St. Hedwig's Holy Name Society, Eagles Club in Mishawaka and the Moose Club. Joe loved working in his yard, tending to his flowers and garden. His yard was always immaculate. He enjoyed traveling and dancing with his wife, playing cards with his longtime friends, and attending the Mishawaka High School Alumni dinners. He was a devoted brother, husband, father, grandfather and soon-to-be great-grandfather. Joe loved socializing with his friends and family; they would always spend time laughing together. Anytime Joe was around, life was a party. We would like to give a special Thank You to Jennifer from Hospice, who dad truly enjoyed, for her exceptional care. Visitation for Joseph will be 2:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. (Rosary at 4:30 p.m.) Tuesday, September 17, 2013, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd.
