Dec. 20, 1946 - July 7, 2013 SOUTH BEND - Josephine Jean "Josie" Sindlinger, 66, died Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Hospice House, South Bend. She was born on December 20, 1946, in Rice's Landing, PA, to the late Clare R. "Jake" and Lillian Virginia (Davis) Fowler. On July 19, 1969, in South Bend, IN, she married her high school sweetheart, Paul Sindlinger, who survives. Along with her loving husband, Paul, she is survived by three daughters, Josette Sindlinger, Laurie (Chris) Thompson and Lynn (Kevin) Rusk, all of South Bend; five grandchildren, Sasha Sindlinger, Alexandria Sindlinger, Lilly Sindlinger, Cassandra Sindlinger and Nicholas Thompson; two sisters, Andrea Hecklinski and Kathy Slagal; and her brother, Gordon Ball. One sister, Pauline Fellhauer, and two brothers, George Smitley and Clare Fowler Jr., all preceded her in death. Josie was an avid bowler, a member of the 600 Club and won the City Doubles Tournament. She was a member of the 1965 graduating class of Riley High School. She completed a cooking course through Purdue University. Josie was a cook in the dietary department of the former St. Joseph Hospital-Mishawaka, for 16 years, retiring in 1997. She also previously cooked at Morrow's Restaurant. Josie was a fantastic cook. Special thanks to the staff at the Center for Hospice for their care. Also special thanks to the late Dr. Blankenstein for his care and compassion; and to Dr. Michelle Pearson and the staff of River Park Family Medicine. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend.
