Larry G. Cather Jan. 5, 1937 - Aug. 27, 2014 MISHAWAKA - Larry Cather, 77, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 27. Larry was born on January 5, 1937, in Mishawaka, to Ivan G. and Fern E. (Hepler) Cather. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Pat Larimer and Nancy Bolin; and a son, Corby Cather. On December 30, 1978, in Elkhart, he married Jo Ann Jordan Petill. Surviving are his wife, Jo Ann; daughters, Cami Gantt, Joni (Dave) Kurtz, Lori (Pete) Sechrist and Shelli Wurtsbaugh; a son, Tracy Cather; 10 grandchildren, Pamela (Ron) Helfrich, Kevin Wurtsbaugh, Katy DeMetz, Holly Gantt, Alisha Sechrist, Kelli Wurtsbaugh, Tracy Gantt, Alison Hernandez, Mindy Gantt and Andrea Sechrist; 15 great-grand-children; and a brother, Allen (Sandi) Cather. Larry attended both Mishawaka High School and Bremen High School. He graduated from Bremen High School and attended Ball State University and IUSB. Larry served in the U.S. Army for a period of six years, which included an assignment to the U.S. Army Command and General Staff War College, Fort Leavenworth. He also served on the Bremen Community School Board for a period of six years. Larry was a member of the VFW. Larry was Vice President of Operations for Indiana Carton in Bremen for 35 years before he retired. Visitation will be today, Friday, August 29, from 3 to 7 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 30, at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home, with Pastor Tony Patrick officiating. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
