Laurie Michele Williams Jan. 19, 1963 - Aug. 16, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Laurie Michele Williams, age 51, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister who resided on North Olive Sreet, South Bend, IN, went home to be with the Lord at 8:40 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at her residence. Laurie was born January 19, 1963, in South Bend, IN, to the union of Milton and Vernell (Douglas) Lax Sr., both of whom preceded her in death along with two sisters, Ernestine Cheeks and Rose James, and a brother, Robert Young. She graduated from LaSalle High School in 1980 and worked formerly for the University of Notre Dame. She was a faithful member of Pentecostal Cathedral Church of God in Christ. She loved reading the Bible, studying the Bible, encouraging people, cooking, having family dinners, and cooking for her family on holidays. Laurie was a Woman of Faith and a Prayer Warrior. Survivors include her devoted husband, Willie Williams Sr.; two daughters, Jamisha (Jason) Harris and Te'Ara Williams; one son, Willie (Sharon) Lax Jr.; four grandchildren, Jamiah and Jaliah Harris, Ryheem McCleod and Kayben Macon, all of South Bend, IN; five sisters, Para (Kevin) James and Patricia (Edgar) Jacks, both of Clarksville, TN, Sharon (Synot) Hall, Darlene Lewis and Annette (Jim) Buress; two brothers, Milton (Sharee) Lax, all of South Bend, IN, and Pastor Richard (Lona) Lax of Houston, TX; her mother-in-law, Ada Beatrice Blackmon of South Bend, IN; along with a host of other relatives and friends. The Celebration Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2014, at Pentecostal Cathedral Church of God in Christ, with Bishop Donald L. Alford Sr. officiating. Viewing will occur at The Cathedral from 11:00 a.m. to noon. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary.
